112 Large covered round basket, 53 cm diameter, 33 cm high, with square base and round top with lid, in good condition with a nice patina. It has upright wooden support ribs on two sides. This large "akob" basket was used to store clothing, from Kankanay people of Mountain Province in Northern Luzon. (Cf. Anderson, Indigenous Art of the Northern Philippines, fig. 467 and 474. And Basketry of the Luzon Cordillera, Philippines, by the UCLA Fowler Museum shows a similar basket in plate No. 28 that is described as Bontoc).
