119 Square basket with cover, 33 cm wide, 10.6 cm high. Such a basket, called a hu'up, was used in Ifugao province to serve cooked rice in the household. It is designed for communal eating and holds rice for the entire group assembled for the meal. It was also used to store cooked during the day for the next meal. (Cf. Basketry of the Luzon Cordillera, Philippines, Catalogue number 8). Purchased in Banaue in 1993.
