124 Round vase-shaped basket of coiled construction with a handle and top lid, 25 cm high. Such a basket, called an ulbung, was used to store a few days supply of hulled rice inside the house. The handle was used to hang the basket to keep it away from rodents. From Ifugao or Mountain Province and purchased in Sagada, Mountain Province, in 1993. (See Basketry of the Luzon Cordillera, Philippines, by the UCLA Fowler Museum, Catalogue number 5 and Fig. 1.13 show such baskets in-situ in an Ifugao house).
