151 Rattan basket from Central Luzon in the Philippines with a full cover that fits snugly. This rectangular basket is 25 x 10 cm wide at the base, and 20 cm high with the cover. Such a basket, called a kupit, was used in the Bontoc region to pack a lunch (mostly cooked rice) for men working in the field or away from home. The saddle- shaped top of the basket allows it to be carried easily under an arm. See Basketry of the Luzon Cordillera, Philippines, Catalogue Number 50 for an example. Purchased in 1992.
